SeaGen

Working with presets

There is only three presets included in SeaGen V1, but you can easily make more yourself!! There will also be downloadable presets later.

The SeaGen is a regular lightwave object, and sea properties are set in the LightWave surface editor.  The SeaGen REF object's sliders control the strength of the surface layers. With a little experimenting, you should be able to create brand new SeaGen surfaces that still follow the sliders...

The current presets are:

SG Default
This is the same surface you get when first applying SeaGen.

SG NoTrans
This surface is fully opaque. In many cases, the sea really doesn't need to be transparent, and using this option (especially if you change the reflection options to background only)  will greatly reduce render times.

SG Refract
This surface has the water set to refractive index of 1.5. It's the best looking of the three, when you have trace refraction activated, but also the slowest by far.

NOTE!! Supposedly due to the high number of envelopes/channel followers in the SeaGen surface, saving and loading rather often results in a crash (at least on my system). You may be better off saving your temporary "preset candidates" as new objects, and creating the presets only when you are sure you're happy with the stuff.
