SkyGen

Working with presets

There is a multitude of presets included in SkyGen V3, but you can also download additional presets.
You should unzip the Skygen presets to the Lightwave texture environment presets folder.

In Lightwave 7.0 this is usually
Programs/Presets/EnvironmentHandler/LW_TextureEnvironment/.

In Lightwave 7.5 this is usually
Programs/Presets/EnvironmentHandler/Textured Environment/.

If your system has a different presets folder, you will have to locate it, and extract the SkyGen presets there.

There are currently four subfolders in the downloadable presets (these will be in addition to the four SkyGen3 preset folders that were installed automatically with PlugPak 2.0):

Day - Daylight and evening scenes. Presets include a sun, so you should use the option to add the sun control object, some presets also include a moon.

Night - Night scenes. Presets include a moon, so you should use the option to add the moon control object.

Space - Space scenes and more. In some of the presets, you can use cloud controls to control nebulae, some presets also include a moon.

Legacy - This folder includes all the original SkyGen presets. They have slightly reduced functionality - they i.e. have no endomorph controls.

Studio - These presets have no controls (except by modifying the textured environment settings) - they are best used as a quick backdrop/bacground reflection texture for studio like shots and previews.

NOTE!! Many of these presets are very similar to the ones installed with PlugPak 2.0, but with less control.
You can download additional Moons and Suns from the PlugkPak mailing list files section.

Moon phases - There's seven moon images at 256*256 resolution. Use by replacing Moon_Default.tga in the image editor.

Suns - There's three sun variations at 128*128 resolution. Use by replacing Sun_Default.tga in the image editor.
