These
puppies are by Leeward's Ego Like Hairdo out of Leeward's Step Lightly

27.03.2010
Leeward's
Step Lightly went today back home after her maternity leave. Siiri is such
a cute little girl, that I just had to share her photos. :) Bye bye Siiri!

I have been
struggling last night and whole morning with these pages, as I have been
unhappy about the green background colour of my homepages - they certainly
are no more green! I somehow managed to lost some information (which proved
to be really valuable - the pages will not work without that!). My poor
friend Mirja did terrific job couple of years ago to and sorted all my messy
files out. I should have believed that you cannot change pages built with
dreamweaver by using frontpage and more importantly, you need to understand
what you do! Now I have to do my pages all over again. Please be patient!
And Mirja, please, please, please...
01.03.2010
Earlier I
said that this is the most beautiful winter I remember for a long time -
well, it also turned out to be one of the most horrendous winters I remember...
We had such a forceful winds that even the pipes of the upstairs bathroom
were frozen, then my car lost it's battery (one should close the doors
properly when exiting cars), not to mentioan taht we had so much snow that I
could not go anywhere for a couple of days - these naturally had to happen,
when my husband was on a business trip in much warmer climate. Never mind, I
still love to live in the countryside!
Puppies were
born safe and sound, and now we just concentrate on getting them really
chubby and teaching them how to run after kids and cat. Sully, the cat, is
happy again - he thinks he is a bichon mom andjust loves to take care
of puppies.
10.01.2010
Year 2009 was unbelievably busy
for me, but I have made a promise to update my homepage more frequently this
year. We did have a litter of puppies, but they are all spoken for. However
we should have a litter by the end of February.
This is the most beautiful winter
I remember for about 20 or so years in Southern Finland and as I haven't
shown our dogs yet this year, I just have to share these photos taken today:

This photo is taken by my husband,
it is the birch alley leading to our home.

This is the front of our home -
we still have some Christmas decorations; my family did not want to take
them down yet!

This is children's cabin covered
with snow.

This is my weeping rowan in front
of old barn - my husband planted it for me when we got married.

This is our house taken from the
river - I just wish my roses will survive this winter!
YEAR 2009
==========
It has been a very busy year, I
have been showing a little (and with nice success, too) but other things in
life have kept me busier than I had thought - I have enjoyed my year and the
possibility to spend time with my family - after all, kids grow up so
quickly and you never get these moments back! We seem to have quite a fan
group; several people have asked for a Christmas photo and here it is
finally.

Bichon babies are only 3 weeks
old, Julianna will be 4 years in the beginning of February and Joel will be
8 years old in January.
Wishing all our friends all the
best during this Christmas time and for the coming year! May your Christmas
be white and your New Year's champagne bubbly!
25.02.2009
Just had to share this! I tried
to take photos of our 5 week old puppies, when Sally the cat decided that
the photo needed some better looking models (in cat's mind) and decided that
she herself would be the best to do the job. :)

29.01.2009
I just received such a lovely
photo of "Lyyli" (Leeward's Fur-Get-Me-Not) almost 6 months, that I just had
to share it. :)

26.01.2009
Odotamme pentuja syntyviksi n.

26.01.2009
We had a very nice day yesterday
at the Turku International Ch. show. The judge was Senor Carlos Fernandez
Renau from Spain. Leeward's Ron Stoppable took his championship title in his
first possible show being 24 months and 8 days old (the age limit for a
championship title is 24 months in Finland). We are so proud of him! Also
our little Bibi made us very happy by being 2nd in her very first show
in a very strong junior class of 13 junior bitches. Unfortunately Bibi
hasn't had her photo taken lately, but here is a nice shot of Ron.

YEAR 2008
==========

22.11.2008
Leeward's Ron Stoppable proved
again to be nonstoppable as he went BOS with CC and CACIB over champions at the Jyvaskyla
International - thank you for recognizing his quality, judge Veli-Pekka
Kumpumaki!

Ron is a fabulous mover as you can see and a joy to handle as he really
never stops showing. Thank you Kautto family for the photos!
02.11.2008
Puppy show in Turku judged by
Tanya Ahlman-Stockmari. Our little "Tarmo Karvanen" Leeward's Ego Like
Hairdo made his debut by being BOB at the age of 5 months!

Tarmo with proud owner Julianna 2
years 8 months. BOs puppy was from Helmiskan kennel (sorry have lost the
catalogue). Thank you Eila Savela for the photo

These photos of Tarmo were taken
day before the show - quite a five month old!
18.10.2008
The biggest group show ver in
Finland in Hameenlinna with the entry of 50 bichons, Leeward's Ron Stoppable
went BOB with CC with the comment from the judge Mrs. Marjatta Pylvanainen-Suorsa:
"He is like a little thoroughbred horse."

20.06.2008
Today is Midsummer Eve and it is
a very important festivity in Finland, although I have shamefully neglected
updating my pages, (there has been some wonderful results, thank you to my
puppy owners once again), I just must put this Midsummer photo up.and try to
catch up with the results later.
Here they are: Miss Midsummer and
her runner-up (feel free to decide which is which): Julianna and Bess

The photo session with Mr Midsummer wasn't quite as successful...

But as Joel put it,
flowers are meant for the girls :) and a man feels stupid wearing them, so
it really is mummy's mistake to even try to take a photo like this.
18.05.2008
The weather was freezing at Salo,
I really felt sorry for the judges, who judged the whole day - I
arrived closer to noon and still felt that my day was longer than I wanted
when I was shivering in my winter jacket :). My beautiful Ron showed his
heart out, I was so pleased with him. Our judge Mr Harto Stockmari seemed to
like him, too, as he gave Leeward's Ron Stoppable BOB with CC. Our girls did
also very well: Leeward's Kim Possible was 2nd best bitch with res. CC and
Ron's sister Leeward's Ruby Furrari was 3rd best bitch. Congratulations and
thank you for taking photos, Sanna Elg (Ruby's owner) and thank you once
again , my friend Minna Martikainen, for handling Kim for me in the best
bitch class. Ron was selected among the final eight at the group, but was
not placed - I did not even mind for not being placed, as I was so happy for
my hotheaded boy finally showing so flawlessly and showing everybody his
proud head carriage and tremendous reach and drive. BOS with CC was
Whoopdiel's Read My Mind (daughter to my Ch Leeward's Chick Magnet).
Unfortunately we did not manage to have any good photos of her. I do
apologize for this photo not making her justice (Sanna gave it her best
effort)!

11.05.2008
Show in Turenki was held in a
beautiful weather, the judge was Mrs. Zidy Münsterhjelm-Ehnberg, who always
likes her bichons small, pretty and compact.
BOB-puppy Leeward's Dr McDreamy
BOB with CC Leeward's Ice'n
Spice
BOS Ladykiller's Belle Of
The Ball
Congratulations Kalevi, Viljo and
Marjo - well done!

27.04.2008
At the Int. Ch. show in Vaasa,
jugded by Ms. Katalin Radvanzsky, Fin & S Ch Leeward's Babe Magnet "Noel"went
2nd best male and took the CACIB - this makes him a brand new international
champion. Congratulations and thank you, Elina!

13.04.2008
We had a show at Kankaanpaa, the
judge was Ms. Kitty Sjong from Denmark. Although numerous people kindly
advised me to cancel Kim's entry due to her small size, I decided to give
her a chance to practise. For a moment it looked like she would not be given
the chance as her entry was lost by the show organizers, but luckily things
were sorted out couple of days before the show.
Kim Possible showed that it is
not impossible for a little girl to do well, if only she has got a big heart.
:) Kim won her class and ended up taking the bitch CC and was 2nd best bitch
after a champion. Ron Stoppable also took his class and got 3rd best male
from the junior class. Ron's pretty sister Ruby Furrari was 2nd in junior
andwent 4th best bitch. One Lucky Fella had his luck with him, though his
owner had to leave earlier, my friend Minna Martikainen was there and was
able to handle him as 4th best male after he had been placed 2nd in junior
with his owner.
Thak you Noora and Sanna for
keeping my puppies so well and Minna for giving a helping hand with Yammy
and Ruby.

This is Kim day
before the show
Year 2008 has so far been VERY
wet, but the spring is coming with a new show season. We have also had some
puppies and are expecting some more during the spring. There will be both
lovely companions and show prospects available for caring homes. Kindly make
your inquiries by phone 040-7757621, we do not take reservations by e-mail
only.

Here are Leeward's Orlando
Inbloom, Oscar Wild and Ohh Livia at the age of 2 weeks. These puppies have
already left for their new homes, their sire is Leeward's Ron Stoppable and the dam is
Leeward's Stinker Belle.
06.04.2008
We have a very wet Sunday,
perfect day for washing bichons. :)
Here is our new import Bart and
below his girlfriend "home made" Bibi

YEAR 2007
==========
22.12.2007
Welcome Santa, but please hurry,
we are clean now! The weather is still warm and WET, but having snow white
bichons sure helps creating Christmas spirit. and I even managed to stop Ron
long enough to wash him. :)

Leeward's Ron Stoppable, 11
months

Leeward's Talk O'the Town, 3
months
17.12.2007
This is my
favourite holiday and except the lack of snow everything makes me
believe that this will be the best Christmas ever and I do wish that you all
share the same feeling!

Thank you family, friends, puppy
owners, and those competitors who make this a great hobby by giving their
best effort in the true spirit of sportmanship!
09.12.2007
Leeward's Trick Or Treat finished
his marvellous year by being 2nd best male at the helsinki International
under judge Rainer Vuorinen - Congratulations Eppu, Susanna and Eppu's
family!
10.11.2007
I finally have a moment to write
about October's happenings, I have been busy organizing the Kindergarten's
Halloween benefit-party, raising a litter, catching "Ron Stoppable" (never
ever name a dog like that!) and having fun with my human family.
This is "Ron #¤%&@£$€
Stoppable", he will be a very nice showdog one day (if I manage to catch him
first...). Please notice that the photo was taken by my 5 year old top
photographer, Joel!

And this is Ron's partner in
crime, "Rufus the bald rat" (just watch Disney-channel) aka Leeward's Talk
O'The Town. Rufus is first son to Efaldee's Just Casper. "Lufus" as Julianna
calls him, is well taken care for by his mistress, "Lufus" has a full bowl
of food 24/7.

27.10.2007
Lahti International was a very
good show to us, Mrs Tuula Plathan, famous for her Karamain Tibetan
Terriers, judged the breed for the first time and did a super job! ;)
Fin & Est & Hcr Ch EstW-07 EuW-07 Leeward's Trick Or
Treat was BOB and then went on as 4th in the group judged by Mr Juha Kares,
famous for his Chic Choix kennel. Thank you both judges! And of course,
thank you Susanna and the Aarnio family!

Also Leeward's Watch My Grits,
who is rarely shown, rpoved his quality once again by being 2nd best male
and took the CC, well done Leevi II and Congratulations to his owners, the
Papinsaari family, Thank you for taking such a good care of him!

13.10.2007
12 years ago I had the honour to
be invited to judge at the Norwegian breed specialty. This year the
Norwegians honoured me even more - they wanted me back! The breed has
changed quite a bit in Norway during these years as it has undoubtedly done
so everywhere else, too. There was a clear American influence in the breed;
the proportions were very good (infact some were just in the borderline to
be even too short), pigments were ok, but perhaps not quite so deep as they
used to be, skulls were rounder now, movements were mostly very good,
forechests had clearly gotten smaller. What was for me the best thing was
the temperaments - they were absolutely super! Also presentation was
excellent, I saw only one dog that could have had whiter feet.
My BIS was Ch Petit Ami's Count
On Me, a marvellous dog, congratulations to both the breeder and his owner,
well done! BOS was Ch Petit Ami's Jade, again a worthy winner,
congratulations!

Norway is one of my favourite
countries because of the incredibly friendly people, who always make you
feel really welcome! Thank you everybody and especially my poor secretary
who learned a brand new language. :)
02.09.2007
No doubt that the summer is over,
it was pouring rain in Vantaa Ch. Show, our poor judge was Mrs Martha Heine
from Germany, who despite of the horrendous weather maintained her good
humour all through the judging.
Fin & Est & Hcr Ch EstW-07 EuW-07 Leeward's Trick Or
Treat was BOB, EuJW-07 Leeward's
Hazard To Myself was 3rd best bitch with res.CC and rarely shown Leeward's
Mary Christmas went 4th best bitch. Never mind little raining, it was
altogether a very nice day!

Congratulations to owners
Anniina, Johanna and Pauliina and Eppu's handler, Susanna! Thank you
Pauliina for the photo again!
26.08.2007
I spent my birthday at home with
my family, but my tireless friends once again showed their dogs at The
Toydog Club of Finland's Show. The judge was Mr Frank Sabella from the USA.
Fin & Est & Hcr Ch EstW-07 EuW-07 Leeward's Trick Or
Treat was 2nd best male and his niece EuJW-07 Leeward's
Hazard To Myself went 2nd best bitch with CC.
Very well done again!
19.08.2007
Championship show in Heinola had
a very good entry, 45 bichons, the judge was Mr Fernando Madeira Rodriguez
from Portugal. He put Fin & Est & Hcr Ch EstW-07 EuW-07 Leeward's Trick Or
Treat back to the throne - BOB again! Well done, girls!!!

18.08.2007
All breed championship show in
Kouvola was judged by Ms. Anna-Liisa Heikkinen from Finland. She placed Fin &
Est & Hcr Ch EstW-07 EuW-07 Leeward's Trick Or Treat as 2nd best male, which
is a good reminder for proud owners, handler and breeder not to take
anything granted :).
On the other hand, it was a
perfect day for us breeders at home, we managed to put some finnishing
touches to our patio floor. :) Thank you our puppy owners for keeping
the flag flying again!

12.08.2007
The 2nd day in Joensuu was even
better than the first one: today Elina showed "Lara" (Multi Ch Leeward's Xciting Mystery)
to BOB with CACIB and this made Lara an International Champion as well. THEN
Lara went on as 2nd in group. The breed was judged by Mr Tarmo Viirtela,
Finland and the group judge was Mr Fernando Madeira Rodriguez from Portugal.
Lara is now owned by Mia and Jani
Harjula, but she has been groomed and expertly handled throughout her career
by Elina Keinanen, Keymaker's Bichons. Even though Lara is bred under my
prefix, the honours belong to Elina as Lara is from the first litter Elina
bred and as she never dreamt of breeding any more, the litter was registered
under my prefix as the both parents are my bichons. Congratulations Elina
for making up your first bred by international champion! Thank you,
Tiina, for letting me use your photo!

11.08.2007
The show at Joensuu had a change
of judge; we wish Juha Kares a speedy recovery, bichons were judged by Ms
Lilian Hanniste from Estonia, the group judge was Mr Joaõ Viera Lisboa from
Portugal. Elina Keinanen showed the 12 month old import, Efaldees Just
Casper, with marvellous results, Casper went BOB with his 2nd CC and later
on 3rd in group (and in pouring rain)!

Congratulations again, Elina and
thank you, Kimmo, for the photo!
05.08.2007
We had gorgeous weather in an
all-breed ch. show in Turku, our judge was Ms. Pirjo Aaltonen from Finland.
BOB was Ch EuJW-06 Leeward's Be Still My
Heart
BOS with CC went to Leeward's
Watch My Grits
Congratulations to the Papinsaari
family for Levi II's first CC (MY Levi is nr 1)! Thank you Hanna for
handling Levi in the BOB-competition - I am sorry if your hand hurts...

Thank you, Sanna, for the BOB-photo!

04.08.2007
There was an all-breed show held in Kuopio, it is quite a long way from us, but luckily my puppy owners
do not mind some driving! The judge was Ms. Rita Reyniers from Belgium.
Multi Ch Leeward's Arctic Folly
returned from her maternity leave (her puppies are 10 weeks old) with
excellent results:
BOB, and 2nd in group
The group judge was Mr Laurent
Pichard from Switzerland.
Congratulations to Kuoppala
family and Cherie's handler Elina Keinanen! Thank you, Johanna, for prompt
delivery of the photo!

28.07.2007
I had a very nice day in Pori
International Ch. Show, even though the weather was cold and rainy. I have
showed very seldom lately myself, but for once I did go myself and showed
"Eppu", while Susanna, his regular handler, was away at her summer cottage.
My "Bessie" was also entered, and Mr Carlos Fernandez-Renau from Spain
rewarded us with excellent results:
BOB, CACIB Multi Ch EuW-07
EstW-07 Leeward's Trick Or Treat
Best Bitch-2, CC, res.cacib and new champion
Fin Ch EuJW-06 Leeward's Be Still My Heart
Also Leeward's Ice'n Spice did
well by being 3rd best male with res. CC

Congratulations again The Aarnio
Girls!
22.07.2007
I actually nowadays just do the
copy/ paste thing when I write down the results. This time the judge in
Hyvinkaa was Ms Karin Bergbom from Finland.
The results were again:
BOB Multi Ch EuW-07
EstW-07 Leeward's Trick Or Treat
Best Bitch-2 res.CC Leeward's
Hazard To Myself

What can I say - GO GIRLS!!!
Congratulations to Jaana Kauppinen for handling the bitch winner.
21.07.2007
Efaldees Just Casper got a very
nice start for his career in Finland by placing himself as best male and BOS
at his very first show in Hankasalmi under judge Markku Kipina from Finland.
Elinas own little bitch (Keymaker's Joy Is My Name )
went BOB, both her and Casper came from junior classes. Way to go
Elina and superhandler Kimmo!

16.07.2007
This is Efaldees Just Casper at
12 months of age, the English import I imported together with my friend
Elina (Keymaker's). We can hardly wait to see his first puppies. :)

Karjaa INT. 01.07.2007
The judge in Karjaa was Mr
Roberto Schill from Romania
The results were once again:

very impressed of the quality of the BOB-winner. Thank you both, Mrs
Pylvanainen-Suorsa and Mr Condo!

What can I say, thank you and
congratulations once again, girls!
16.06.2007 Kotka Int.
The judge in Kotka was Mr Goran
Bodegard from Sweden, "Eppu" Leeward's Trick Or Treat is making it very easy
for me to write the results - just copy and paste the previous ones :)
BOB, Cacib Multi Ch EuW-07
EstW-07 Leeward's Trick Or Treat
BOS, CC Frittmi's Love Potion (co-owned
with Jutta Sohlman)
Best Bitch-2 res.CC Leeward's

08.06.2007 Zagreb, Croatia

Today has been group 9 (toys and companion dogs) in European Winner Show

as far as I know there were dogs entered from several countries and they
were bred in very many different countries, USA, Norway, Finland, Sweden,
Denmark, Hungary, Russia, Ukrainia, Czech, Croatia, Greece etc.
The BOB adult:
Fin & Est & Hr Ch EUW-07 EstW-07

Bred and Owned by Jaana & Jarkko Hellsten, Finland
Co-owned, handled and groomed by Susanna Sillanpaa, Finland

My friend, Hanna Ruhanen (Ladykiller's)
had BOS-junior, and the BOS-adult was also bred in Finland, so it was
yet another great day for Finnish Bichons.
I am very grateful to Susanna,
Hanna and Pauliina for their efforts and hope that they return safely back
home!
03.0.2007 Tallinn, Estonia
Susanna, Pauliina and Hanna (Ladykiller's
Bichons) went over the Gulf of Finland to Estonia, the judge there was Mr
Roberto Schill from Romania. Ch Leeward's Trick Or Treat "Eppu" continued
his winning ways and took the breed with the titles of Estonian Champion and
Estonian Winner -07, my little "Rosa" Leeward's Hazard To Myself 10 months (litter
sister to Elina's Sara) went BOS with the junior CC and titles of Estonian
Junior Winner -07 and Estonian Winner -07.

In A Million, took also the junior CC with Estonian Junior Winner -07 title.
Bon Voyage, girls!
03.06.2007 Tuuri
There was an all breed ch. show
in Tuuri. Elina showed there with marvellous results: her own "Konsta"
Keymaker's Brave Rebel was BOB and our little baby "Sara" Leeward's Hello
Excuse Me did not apologize much but took BOS with the CC at the age of 10
months. The judge was Ms. Anna-Liisa Heikkinen - thank you!

Here is Sara before the show.
Just believe me that showing can
be rally exhausting job: I have been really sweating at home, serious sun
bathing takes it's toll :) - thank you girls, for letting me have summer
holiday, while you keep the flag flying!
27.05.2007 Home
Casper went to his forever home
to Elina today and I was so glad to hear how thrilled Elina was about him,
he was even better than Elina had thought by the photos - I am always glad
to hear that, as I don't like to praise anybody anything too much, I like
people to see themselves. Thank you Jill for sending him to us!

Efaldees Just Casper 10 months
26.05.2007 Helsinki
There was another show in
Helsinki the same day, unfortunately they got even more rain. The judge was
a lady from Australia, Rose Massey. Fin Ch Leeward's Trick Or Treat was BOB
and went on to 2nd in group (group judge Jose Vidal), his sister Leeward's
Tuff Cookie was 2nd best bitch with res. CC. Congatulations Susanna the
handler, Johanna, Pauliina and Anniina Aarnio and Carola Sjoblom.

26.05.2007 Parainen
I showed at Parainen, which is a
beautiful small town by the south-western coast of Finland. The show's
organizers had done a super job; there were people with carts willing to
take all your gear to the ringside at no cost! And the show was beautifully
decorated as well. It was a real pleasure. The weather was not the best
possible, though and we had some rain as well, luckily it was almost over
when it was time to go in the ring. Our judge was Ms. Tanya Ahlman-Stockmari,
who really knows this breed and is a hard one to fool. :)
Fin Ch Leeward's Me Myself And I
went BOB, Leeward's Best O'The Rest was BOS with CC and the junior bitch
owned by Jutta Sohlman (Leaflet's Bichons) and I, Frittmi's Love Potion, was
2nd best bitch with res.CC. Thank you, Jutta, for handling Bonnie for me in
the BOB competition!

22.05.2007
Casper arrived yesterday evening
and he will be staying with us until Elina (Keymaker's) has a chance to take him to Oulu.
Casper is our joint project to get some interesting addition to the gene
pool of Finnish Bichons.

You will be seeing the rest of
him in future shows. ;)
Pitea, Sweden 20.05.2007
On Sunday there was an all breed
championship show and Lara and Noel decided to switch places in breed
judging and in the group Lara was 4th best, which is a great end to the trip.
The breed judge was Anna-Liisa Heikkinen and the group was judged by Ms.
Annette Bystrup from Denmark. Again thanks and congrats, Elina! I don't have
a phot from Sunday's show but just look the photo below again and this time
go from right to left! :) :
Pitea, Sweden 19.05.2007
Elina showed he dogs in Sweden
with excellen results, on Saturday there was a toy dog specialty and "Noel"
(Ch Leeward' Babe Magnet) went all the way to Best In Show and this CC made
him also Swedish champion. "Lara" (Ch Leeward's Xciting Mystery was BOS with
CC and thus became a Swedish champion, too. The judge was Mr Tarmo Viirtela.
Huge thanks and congratulations, Elina!!!

Helsinki 19.05.2007
The judge in Helsinki was Mogens
Slot Hansen, "Levi" (Ch Leeward's Me Myself And I) decided that he had been
washed and shown once too many within a week's time and would not behave;
luckily "Eppu" (Ch Leeward's Trick Or Treat) alwasy behaves (wish Levi would
learn from him!) so nicely and he ended up being 2nd best male and took the
CACIB.
Ristiina 17.05.2007
We have a bank holiday today and
there were 26 bichons entered to Ristiina. Our judge was an internationally
well-known westie breeder, Mr Veli-Pekka Kumpumaki. "Levi" (Leeward's Me
Myself And I went BOB with CC and that made Finnish Champion and later he
was 2nd in group, too! The group judge was Ms Pirjo Aaltonen. My beautiful
little "Bessie" (EuJW-06 Leeward's Be Still My Heart) was 2nd best bitch
with res. CC. Thank you judges, that was what I needed after last Sunday's
catastrophe :). Also, thank you Kirsi Raisanen for the great BOB-photo!

Salo 13.05.2007
Mother's day is a day when
mother's should be pampered and they should be able to do what ever
they want. What is what mothers want? If they are into dogs, then they want
to show dogs - of course!
There was a show in Salo, there
was a change of judge and pretty small entry. So our judge was Ms Liliane
Hanniste from Estonia and the entry was 16. My Levi (Leeward's Me Myself And
I) decided to give mom a special surprise. Imagine my horror, when the judge
said: "Excellent bite, but one tooth is missing!" Well, I knew very well
that there was nothing wrong with his teeth - or did I? Since the show in
Lahti fortnight ago, Levi had somehow managed to broke his upper inscissor
and I had no idea that something like this had happened... So it wasn't
Levi's day...
Luckily Jutta Sohlman was showing
our "Luna" (Swedish import Frittmis Love Potion) and Luna took her first CC
with BOS! Thank you, Jutta, for showing my half, too!!! Below is Luna before
the show.

The very next morning Levi went
to see the vet and we had some x-rays taken, which showed that the roots of
that tooth were still inside the jaw, which means that we shall have a KC
confirmed veterinary certificate stating that the tooth is missing because
of an accident and that should not cause any more problems at shows.
The interesting part of the story
was, that when I said to the judge that the tooth had broken within last
couple of weeks, she told me that: "If a tooth is broken then it is a bad
tooth" Later in the evening I watched ice-hockey World Championship finals
with my husband and wondered what those players would have said, had I told
them that getting a hockey stick in your mouth is no reason for a tooth to
fall out, it only happens because the tooth is bad! ;)
Lahti 29.04.2007
Lahti International Championship
show was a very eventful and happy show for us, though I wasn't fully aware
of happenings due to a terrible flu combined with hay fever... Imagine my
ashtonishment when I was told that I handled the 2nd best bitch after I had
told several people that I cannot possibly remember who were the 2nd and 3rd
best bitches. And I also forgot to take my written judgements and what was
even worse, I left my trolley at the parking place - luckily I have such
wonderful friends: Thank you Susanna, Johanna, Pauliina and Anniina
for fetching everything I left behind! Congratulations to the Aarnio girls
and the Sjoblom family and Susanna Sillanpaa! Thank you all the numerous
friends who were so kind and sent me photos - there was no shortage of
photos this time!
Our judge was Ms. Helle Dan
Paulsen from Denmark. The entry was 25 dogs and 30 bitches, there were no
puppies at this show.
BOB and BIG-4 with Cacib was Ch Leeward's
Trick Or Treat

The group judge was Mr Johan
Juslin, who is not an easy gentleman to please and getting group placement
under him is no piece of cake.

Litter sister to Trick Or Treat,
Leeward's Tuff Cookie, placed herself as 2nd best bitch and she took the res.
CC and res. cacib

and her daughter Leeward's Hazard
To Myself was 4th best bitch - we kept it in the family! Rosa's litter
sister Leeward's Holly Golightly was shown first time in junior and
though she has got beautiful outline, she still needs to build up those
muscles the rest of the family has :), Holly's owner, Marja-Leena
Lappalainen, has proved that this is not such a difficult breed even for the
beginner, if only one has the will to learn how to take care of the coat
properly .

Kankaanpaa 22.04.2007
We had a lovely day at Kankaanpaa, our judge was mr Juha Putkonen, our
Rosa (Leeward's Hazard To Myself) was entered first time in junior, she is
now 9 months old. Rosa took the breed just like her dam did at her first
show in junior and then went on as 2nd in group. The group was judged by Ms.
Pirjo Aaltonen. Our breeder's group went BIS breeder's group judged by Ms.
Anna-Liisa Heikkinen. Leeward's Trick Or Treat "Eppu" got his title of
Finnish champion with BOS. Leeward' Me Myself And I celebrated his
daughter's win by being 2nd best male and Leeward's Best O'The Rest made her
debute by being 3rd best bitch, which was remarkable as her puppies are only
12 weeks old. Thank you ladies and gentleman for recognising the
quality of our bichons! And thank you, Susanna Sillanpaa for taking such a
good care of Eppu and Rosa. Congratulations and great big thank you, family
Aarnio, for making your beloved pet a real showdog!

The World Winner Show 2006 has been held in Poznan, Poland,
the entry was to my knowleadge 48 and the judge was Ms Elżbieta Junikiewicz.
Two of our Bichons were entered:

Int & Fin & S & N & Dk
& Est Ch KBHW-04 NORDW-05 EuW06 EstW-06
Leeward's Prove The
Point "Samu" can now add
WW2006 to his already impressive list of titles (which I am never able to recall
:) ) as well!!! Samu took also the CACIB and
BOB.
Fin & S & N Ch EuW2006 Leeward's Arctic Folly
"Cheri" got the bitch WW2006 title with CACIB, too. Cheri also became
an International Champion.
As far as I know, both Samu and Cheri
got also the titles of Polish Champion.
Thank you Elina for all your hard
work, again and congratulations to you, Kimmo and the Kuoppala family!
My thanks go also to all our numerous
friends, this year has been a year to remember, especially because of all your
support!!!
05.11.2006
There are not much news to tell, the show season is over and
we have only two shows left this year. However we got a litter of boys (naturally,
when I had planned on leaving a little girl home) and there are two boys
available for responsible and loving homes.

hoitaa joululahjapulmat!

04.11.2006
Fin & S Ch Leeward's Antonio Beareras paid a visit to
Estonia and can now add a title of Estonian Champion before his name as well
- Congratulations Mirjha & Niilo!!! Yhe judge was Ms Gloria Geringer from
the USA.

Although I do love all my puppy owners and am very grateful
for all the hard work they do, it would be nice to get photos from the
actual shows - it really isn'ts so easy to update these pages without any
material (Mirja kept demanding an update, but never sent any material...).
;)
08.10.2006
The show season is over, we have only a couple of shows left
this year: there was an International Championship Show in Oulu judged by Mr
Harto Stockmari. Our dogs did very well again. Multi Ch Leeward's Prove The
Point was BOS and Fin & S & N Ch EuW06 Leeward's Arctic Folly was 2nd best bitch -
congratulations Elina & Tarja!

24.09.2006
We were showing in an island of Aland, there were bichons
from Sweden, too. Our judge was Ms Phyllis Poduschka-Aigner from Austria.
Our little "Bessie" EuJW-06 flew around the ring and took the breed with CC
and CACIB and "Leevi" Leeward's Me Myself And I was no worse, he went BOS
with CC and CACIB. I was travelling with "Tilda's", Leeward's Tuff
Cookie, owner Carola
and Tilda also did very well considering that her puppies are 10 weeks old
now - Tilda was 3rd best bitch. Thank you Carola for being such a good
company and Jaana Karenmaa-Nurminen (Diamella) for handling Leevi for me in
the BOB-competition.
17.09.2006
We had a show in Helsinki, our judge was Mr Juha Putkonen.
This is getting boring; Leeward's Trick Or Treat "Eppu" took the breed again
with BOB and the CC - though I am sure that Eppu's family is always as
excited and Susanna did super job again. Leeward's Watch My Grits "Leevi the
II" decided to behave beautifully and competed well with Eppu and was 2nd
best male. Leeward's Mary Christmas "Nella" had a bit of a morning sickness
and wasn't quite as willing to give her best, so she ended up being 2nd best
female. Our breeder's group was BOB, as well. Not a bad day :)

10.09.2006
This weekend's show was held in Porvoo, the judge was Juha
Kares. Again "Eppu" Leeward's Trick Or Treat did it! Thank you and
congratulations Susanna and Aarnio girls for Eppu's BOB and CC!

02.09.2006
There was an all breed show in Helsinki, bichons frisés were
judged by Mr Andreas Schemel from Austria. "Eppu", Leeward's Trick Or Treat,
took his 2nd CC with BOS. Eppu has been shown only 4 times in his life, so
he really is doing exceptionally well! Thank you and congratulations Susanna
and all the Aarnio girls!!!

In the meanwhile
The show season is slowing down and to my ashtonishment I
have realized that our garbage shelter has her own fan club, so here she is
in her new and improved look :)

The more we win, the more we are in need of a garbage
shelter: amazingly people who haven't even been at the shows seem to know
what really happened in the ring - it seems to be impossible to think that
dogs can win simply because they are good and worthy specimens of the breed.
20.08.2006
Today there were two shows where Leeward's bichons were
present: in Finland the show was held in Heinola and the judge was Mr
Joachim Weinberg from Germany. Leeward's Trick Or Treat was BOB with CC -
congratulations to Aarnio family and great big thank you to Susanna
Sillanpaa for trimming and handling "Eppu" so beautifully! It is so nice to
have such a good puppy owners and friends!

The other show was Estonian Winner Show in Tallinn, the
judge was Mr Kari Jarvinen from Finland. There were four Leeward's bichons
present and they took both the adult winner titles :) - Fin & N
Ch Leeward's Kisses'n Roses owned by Jari Jaakkola was BOB with CACIB and
then she ended up as 2nd in group! 2nd best female with res. CACIB was NordJW-05 Leeward's Xciting Mystery, Multi
Ch Leeward's Prove The Point was BOS and Leeward's Babe Magnet was 2nd best
male with CACIB. Congratulations and thank you Jari and Elina - I am
so happy for you and because of you!

13.08.2006
13th has always been said to be a bad day and that it seemed
to be at first, but fortunately it was a lucky number for Niilo and Nella. I
had promised to take them to a show in Raisio, because both owners were busy
elsewhere. Our judge was Mr Tarmo Viirtela. Nella, Leeward's Mary Christmas,
took the CC with BOB and Niilo, Leeward's Antonio Beareras, was 2nd best
male with CC, which made him up to a Finnish and Swedish champion.
Leeward's Topsy Turvy, Topi, was beautifully presented by his young owner,
Saara, and ended up being 3rd best male in their very first dog show ever.

4.-6.07.2006
Again I stayed home building a patio with my husband, but luckily my
wonderful puppy owners can manage quite well without me. There were three
shows held in Kuopio; on Friday the judge was Mr Harry O'Donoghue from
Ireland. Multi Ch Leeward's Prove The Point took the breed and won also the
group. NordJW-05 Leeward's Xciting Mystery was BOS and Fin & S & N Ch EuW-06
Leeward's Arctic Folly was 2nd best female.

Leeward's breeder's group was
BIS - thank you girls and Kimmo!!!

On Saturday, the judge was Mrs Elsbeth Clerc from
Switzerland. This time NordJW-05 Leeward's Xciting Mystery was BOB with CC
and CACIB and 3rd in group. Fin & S & N Ch EuW-06 Leeward's Arctic Folly was
2nd best female. Multi Ch Leeward's Prove The Point was 2nd best male
and Leeward's Babe Magnet was 4th best male.

On Sunday the judge was Mr Ove Germundsson from Sweden.
Multi Ch Leeward's Prove The Point took the breed with 4th in group, Leeward's Babe Magnet was
2nd best male with CC. NordJW-05 Leeward's Xciting Mystery was 3.rd best
female and Fin & S & N Ch EuW-06 Leeward's Arctic Folly was 4th best female.

The summer has been incredible and I have all the reason to
be grateful both to the judges and my puppy owners!!!
29.07.2006
The weather was again beautiful in Mikkeli, where there was
an International Championship Show, our judge was a well-known all-rounder
Mrs Paula Heikkinen-Lehkonen. Her BOB was Multi Ch Multi Winner Leeward's
Prove The Point, the CC and eventually also the Cacib was won by Leeward's
Babe Magnet, Leeward's Me Myself And I was 3rd best male. EuJW-06 Leeward's
Be Still My Heart took the BOS with CC and Cacib and Fin & S & N Ch EuW-06
Leeward's Arctic Folly was 4th best bitch. Our breeder's group ended up as
BIS-2 and we got a lovely critique from our judge who compared the group to
sugarcubes, all sweet and similar!

23.07.2006
I wasn't able to update my pages for a few days, which has
especially infuriated Mirja, the owner of Leeward's Antonio Beareras, since
he took the CC with 2nd best male in Mantsala under Mrs Maria Kalo from
Hungary, "Niilo" was handled by Jutta - congratulations and sorry for the
delay, Mirja and thank you, Jutta! :) I do assure you that I spent the days
without the internet in a constructive way (we have been building a Miss
Finland of the garbage shelters...).
As I do not have any new photo of
"Niilo", I'll show you the garbage shelter (well, "Niilo" IS even cuter):
; )

There was also another show in the same day, way up north,
the judge was Mr Goran Bodegard from Sweden. Elina was supposed to be
working that day, but being Elina she even managed to combine her work with
the show: Fin & N & S Ch EuW-06 Leeward's Arctic Folly took the breed and
Leeward's Babe Magnet was BOS with the CC. This is good, but even better is
that Cheri's owner, Tarja, seldom handles herself and this time she had to
take Cheri to the group all by herself and Mrs Chris Lummelampi gave Cheri 2nd in
Group - I am so happy for you, Tarja!!! This is a nice reminder to those
people, who keep on claiming that the faces win - a good dog wins, no matter
who is in the end of the leash! It only takes a good judge to recognize the
quality and thank goodness we seem to have plenty of good judges around.

16.07.2006
Today's show was held in Pietarsaari and Mr Tarmo Viirtela
judged again (after this weekend he must be pretty fed-up with Leeward's
bichons ;-) ):
Multi Ch Multi Winner Leeward's Prove The Point was BOB and
2nd in group!

Leeward's Babe Magnet was 2nd best dog with CC and Leeward's Bear With Me was
3rd best dog. Fin & N & S Ch Leeward's Arctic Folly was BOS and Leeward's
Xciting Mystery was 2nd best bitch with the CC. Leewards breeder's group was
BIS-breeder's group.

Thank you and congratulations Elina, Tarja and Anna! And
thank you once again, Johanna Kuoppala for the photos!
15.07.2006
Jutta showed her girl "Krisse", Leeward's Ringside Rose, in
Helsinki under Mr Tarmo Viirtela, with very nice results: CC with BOS. That
was well done Jutta and Krisse - congratulations!

09.07.2006
There was an International Championship show in Pitea in
Sweden, the judge was Christian Stavarache from Romania. The entry was 26.
Fin & N Ch Leeward's Arctic Folly was BOB with CC and Cacib and she also got
the Swedish Champion title. Leewad's Babe Magnet was BOS with CC and Cacib.
Cheri won the group, too!!! Congratulations Elina and Tarja!

08.07.2006
Finland has had a heatwave for several weeks now (over 30
degrees oc celsius) and I decided to let my own Leevi and Bessie take a rest,
since they have more than enough CC's. We had a show in Salo, the judge was
Mr Bo Skalin from Sweden, the entry was 20. I handled Leeward's Troublemaker
and this time he was no trouble at all (must have been the heat!) and took
the breed with CC. Ch Leeward's June Playmate was 2nd best bitch, Leeward's
Ringside Rose was 3rd best bitch and our baby Leeward's Bearfoot Dancer was
4th best bitch.

02.07.2006
Elina showed again, this time in Ylivieska, the judge was
Mrs Karin Bergbom. Multi Ch Multi Winner Leeward's Prove The Point took the
breed with 2nd in Group. Leeward's
Xciting Mystery was 2nd best bitch with CC, Ch Leeward's Arctic Folly was
4th best bitch. Our breeder's group was 3. Best In Show. Thank you Elina for
showing the group and congratulations on Samu's success!

01.07.2006
Our family is having summer holiday, but as I had earlier
promised to handle a bitch of our breeding, I took a trip to Pori. There was
a change of judge, the judge was now Mr Paavo Mattila and the entry was 20.
Leeward's Mary Christmas was 2nd best bitch and took the CC. Good girl
Nella!

There was a group show in Pieksamaki and Elina showed there.
The judge was Mrs Anna-Liisa Heikkinen. Leeward's Xciting Mystery "Lara"
took the breed and the group and ended up being 2. Best In Show - way to go Lara! Leeward's Babe Magnet was BOS.

25.06.2006
Midsummer is one of the biggest holidays in Finland, so we
did not show then. Elina shows when ever there is a show, but she had a bad
: ) day: Int Ch etc. EuW-06 etc. Leeward's Prove The Point was
2nd best male and Fin & N Ch EuW-06 Leeward's Arctic Folly was 2nd best
bitch. The judge was Marit Sunde from Norway and the entry was 36. Well,
it is good that somebody keeps us humble.
18.06.2006
"Niilo" Leeward's Antonio Beareras competed in Avesta in
Sweden. He was expertly handled by Jutta Tihverainen, Leaflet's Bichons, to
the BOB with CACIB. Thank you Jutta!!!

"Inka" Leeward's June Playmate came back after maternity leave and attended
to a show in Tuuri, the judge was Marjatta Pylvanainen-Suorsa, entry was 27.
Inka took her title with 2nd best bitch - congratulations Minna & Inka!

17.06.2006
We had terribly hot weather; the show was in Forssa, entry
was 27 and our judge was another Italian gentleman, Mr Giovanni Battista
Tabo. We had several youngsters in the ring and they all did well.
"Leevi" Leeward's Me Myself And I was BOB, "Bessie" EuJW06 Leeward's Be
Still My Heart was BOS, Leeward's Mary Christmas was 3rd best bitch. The
weather was so hot that I decided to skip the big ring - it isn't fun
anymore when both dogs and owners are close to have a sun stroke. :)

Thank you, Sanna from Sugerin Bichons, for helping me with
the BOB/ BOS!
11.06.2006
Finland hosted the European Winner Show, the entry was 53,
our judge was Mr Paolo Dondina from Italy.
Altogether we had a fabulous day, everything we showed
was placed very well: Leeward's Me Myself And I was 2nd in junior males and
took res.CC, Leeward's Babe Magnet was 2nd in intermediate males. Leeward's
Xciting Mystery won intermediate bitches and took res.CC. Leeward's Tuff
Cookie won open bitches. BOB breeder's group Leeward's Bichons.
Then to the titles:
European Winner 2006
Multi Ch Leeward's Prove The Point
European Winner 2006
Fin & N Ch Leeward's Arctic Folly
European Junior
Winner 2006 Leeward's Be Still My Heart
My little baby "Bessie"
Leeward's Be Still My Heart showed everybody, that her name is not a
coincidence! She really made my heart stop still, when the judge
made her BOB over the adults!!!

Bessie's judgement: "Real young beauty, well put down. Excellent standing
and moving. Feminine with great personality. Well presented. Moves well."
Thank you Mr Dondina for recognizing her quality!

We had also
BOB-breeders group - THANK YOU Tarja, Elina & Jari for the excellent job
again!
10.06.2006
The Bichon Frisé Club of Finland held it's Specialty, the
judge was MR Terry Holgate from UK (Clanmarret Bichons), the entry was 75.
We had a lovely day with plenty of joy and loads of tears from the winner
and the breeder - way to go Hanna & Satu :)

BIS was Ladykiller's
Mighty Fabulous
3rd best male was
Leeward's Me Myself and I
BOS was Ch Leeward's
Arctic Folly
2nd best bitch was
Leeward's Be Still My Heart with CC
4th best bitch was
Leeward's Xciting Mystery with res.CC
BIS-puppy was
Moonshine - GO Carola!

BIS-breeder
Leeward's Bichons
Thank you VERY
much all my puppy owners for all your efforts!!!
04.06.2006
As I was celebrating at my friends', Elina (who never gets
tired of showing ;) ) showed in Mantta under Mr Paavo Mattila. And again I
have plenty to be grateful of: "Cheri" Leeward's Arctic Folly took the
breed and gained her title (this was her 1st show after her 2nd birthday).
Congratulations to her owners Family Kuoppala! Elina's own "Samu" Multi Ch
Leeward's Prove The Point (sorry Elina, I still cannot remember everything!)
was BOS and to make it even better "Noel" Leeward's Babe Magnet was 2nd best
male with his 2nd CC (there were other competitiors as well...). Cheri went
on to BIG-4 and even our breeder's group was BIS-4. Thank you Elina, Tarja,
Johanna and Marjo!

28.05.2006
Elina continued showing in Joensuu, today poor Samu had to
be content for being 2nd best male, but luckily the winner was in the same
household, this time it was young "Noel" Leeward' Babe Magnet, who took the
BOB and his first CC, and "Lara" Leeward's Xciting Mystery was BOS with her
2nd CC. The judge was Mr Markku Kipina.

"Toby" Leeward's Troublemaker had spent the weekend in the
boot camp at the breeder's and finally it paid off: Toby was BOB with his
first CC - hopefully he keeps in mind what he has learnt so that we shall
see him winning again. "Tilda" Leeward's Tuff Cookie was no worse than her
brother, Tilda took her 4th CC with BOS. "Niilo" Leeward's Antonio Beareras
was 2nd best male (unfortunately we had hale whilst he was in the ring!) and
Wilma "Ch Leeward's Kisses'n Roses was 2nd best bitch. Our judge was Ms
Pirjo Aaltonen.

27.05.2006
I showed "Toby" Leeward's Troublemaker and "Tilda" Leeward's
Tuff Cookie in Riihimaki. Toby according to his name missed a CC because of
not behaving in the best male ring, he ended up being 3rd best male, Tilda
did very well again and took the CC with 2nd best bitch. The judge was Vija
Klucniece from Latvia.
BUT Elina was showing her gang in Joensuu. under Mrs
Marjatta Pylvanainen-Suorsa. Multi Ch Leeward's Prove the Point took the
breed as he has done so many times before. Then he continued to win the
group under Mrs Kari Engh from Norway and finally went BEST
IN SHOW under a well known Finnish all rounder Mrs
Paula Heikkinen-Lehkonen. Although Elina has done a lot of winning with her
bichons over the years, this was her first BIS and I can very well remember
the feeling. I do hope that Elina wins many more with the ones that I have
bred and also under her brand new very own affix, Keymaker's.
Congratulations Elina!
