Aumet develops Z-engine, which basis on the ideas of Aumet owner Timo Janhunen. Z-engine is a two-stroke diesel engine with intake and exhaust valves in the cylinder head. Intake air is compressed in a high pressure. Intake air flows into the cylinder with a very high speed.
The valves in the cylinder head of two-stroke engine have been used for a long time. When the air flows with a high speed in the intake system, the flow can become choked in the narrowest cross-section. In this kind of flow the mass flow rate of air cannot be enlarged although the pressure in the intake system were made higher.
I don't know on what ideas the Z-engine basis. We need reliable measured results so that the Z-engine can be compared with other engines.
It has been a great achievement by Timo Janhunen to get the Z-engine to run.

Sisu Diesel is concentrated on off highway high speed diesel engines. Tractors, agricultural machines and load handling machines are typical applications of Sisu Diesel engines.
The competition in the high speed diesel engines market is hard. Sisu Diesel has shown that even in Finland you can succeed, when you manufacture competitive engines. Although Sisu Diesel is nowadays owned by Agco, we need firms like Sisu Diesel, who rely on Finnish work.
