Practice:
This was the "silly season" when driver contracts are made.
During practice Nuvolari tried out the Auto Union,
and Stuck could be seen on the track trying out the Mercedes-Benz.
The entry of the local driver Josef Brazdil is one of the most bizarre stories ever in Grand Prix racing.
The driver seems to have borrowed money to buy a Maserati, and when unable
to pay back he had ended up in jail. Some of the drivers appealed to authorities
to release Brazdil so he could take part in the GP, returning to jail after the race.
On his very first practice lap Brazdil run into a corner with full speed and crashed into
the woods totally destroying the car. The driver died immediately. Inexperience or suicide?
Auto Union driver Momberger was still suffering from arthritis and was a non-starter.

A giant crowd of estimated 350,000 had gathered for the last major Grand Prix of the season, the Czech GP
at Brno. The GP cars started together with the Voiturette class. The race developed into a duel between Fagioli's Mercedes and Stuck's Auto Union. The rough roads
of the Brno circuit took the toll of both cars and drivers Caracciola had to give up with a broken wheel and
Henne got sick and had to give the car over to reserve driver Geier.
At half race Fagioli seemed to have got the better edge of Stuck and was able to open up a decent gap.
But with 2/3 of the race run, the Mercedes driver had to make an unscheduled pit stop leaving over the lead
to Stuck. The Auto Union driver was never challenged again taking the flag almost 3 minutes in front of Fagioli.
First non German car was Nuvolari in the 6C-34 Maserati. Third place was the best he could do that day,
but he had beaten Varzi's Ferrari so we can guess he was in pretty good mood.

The Voiturette race was started together with the GP cars but was 2 laps shorter.
Farina showed the 350,000 persons crowd that his Biella win four weeks earlier
had been no freak victory. He dominated the Voiturette class leading the race
from start to finish.

Footnote:
1. While sources indicate a grid with pole on the right side, photos from the start
seem to indicate a left handed grid. It is unknown to me if Brazdil's place in the grid was left open.
2. From left to right, source for the first times listed are Automobile-Revue/Motor Sport/Le Figaro/David Venables' book "Racing Fifteen-Hundreds", second times are from Paul Sheldon's book,
and third times are from Italian sports newspaper "Il Littoriale".

The race finally started early Wednesday morning in bright sunshine. Rose took an early lead from Landi and Marconcini.
Marconcini fell back, Landi had to retire and Crespi took over second position followed by Lo Turco.
Corręa who had drawn a bad start position was slowly but surely working his way up throught the field and after 13 laps he took over the lead.
He was followed by Crespi with Landi dropping back to third. Chasing Corręa, Crespi then hit a post on the Arthur Araripe Street and crashed badly,
the driver sadly succuming to his injuries. That left Corręa in the lead from Rosa and Lopes. The latter two swapped positions on lap 23.
So Corręa took te victory after having started from last position in his quite odd looking Ford special.

Varzi and Nuvolari had a great fight for the victory
but the latter took the command of the race and won with over one minute over his main rival.
So Nuvolari with his 6C-34 scored his first victory of the season, showing that the new Maserati
was superior to the Scuderia Ferrari Alfa Romeos. And Nuvolari had taken Varzi's scalp again, just as in Brno.

Nuvolari in his Maserati defeated the Ferrari entered Alfa Romeos again on the demanding
track, just as he had done in Modena the week before,
the Mantuan ending up a frustrating season in good mood.
Brivio, in his first race for Ferrari, beat his team mates Tadini and Comotti to finish second.
Farina drove a good race to finish fourth in a Maserati 1500cc Voiturette.
This race finished the 1934 European racing season.

Brivio handled his Alfa over to Chiron for the second race. Chiron took the lead also in the second heat until he had
to slow down with a broken shock-absorber. Straight, who was running second for most of the heat, had to retire on the
very last lap with a broken gearbox. So the second heat was won by Wimille from Chiron and Soffietti and that was also
the aggregate result.

Footnote:
1. Motor Sport gives the total time of 2h33m21.8s and Paul Sheldon gives 2h33m21.2s. Adding Chiron's times from the first and the second heat would give 2h33m20.8s but if the rules said that the driver's times
were to be added rather than times for the car I fail to see why Chiron, who was 4th in the first heat, took over Brivio's car as the latter had finished 2nd to improve the teams position.
