Rakonczay

When my long journey, has brought me all the way to Aarnimetsä, I decided to start archery, because it seemed to be a good way to spend time.

I did not quess, how big part of my heart it might take.

I have 4 bows to use nowadays. Two bows are from Kassai, Hungary, both are recurvebows. The first one is Hungarian type bow named Bear. Draw weight is 89#. Bow is too strong for me. After that I bought Avarian bow named Buzzard. Weight is 40#. In picture below is shown Buzzard. It variates from Bear basically from length which is 122 cm in Buzzard and 140 cm in Bear.

Third bow is longbow from Estonian Falco. Model is Spirit and draw weight is 46#. Arrows fly with this longbow much better in to targets which are over 25 meters. Example from 50 meters with Buzzard I aim 5 meters over target and with longbow only 1 meter over it.

Fourth bow is made by Boyd Rankin in Ireland. It is laminated longbow, length of 190 cm. Wood used are Hiccory, Osage and Lemonwood. Strength is 55# at 28" draw.

I have used Estonian cedar arrows from Falco, with plastic nocks.

Summer 2005 I learned how to straighten arrows and I even made one set my self.
