helle (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775)

Violet Copper (ENG), luhtakultasiipi (FIN), violett guldvinge (SWE), violetjas kuldtiib (EST), Zwergfeuerfalter (GER), Le Cuivré de la bistorte (FRE)

The species is under protection in Finland. It has disappeared from most parts of the country during the 1980's, but this unfavourable development has certainly begun much earlier. Unlike most other Coppers, it does not feed on Rumex but rather on Polygonum viviparum. Also P. aviculare is accepted in rearing conditions, but Rumex is strongly avoided.
