Guestbook 2006

Thank THE LORD that the great originator Little Richard has finally came back around to 'ole Kansas City. I've punked out many a time on traveling great distances to see him in huge venues but now he's going to be in a fairly intimate club inside Harrah's in K.C. Thank God and Little Richard for coming to see us. We love you Little Richard...you were, are, and always will be the greatest Rock & Roll artist of all time.

I'm a swedish fan of Little Richard. A couple of years ago I was lucky to see him on stage and he sang a song that I think is called "There's no place like home" a tribute to his mother. Does anyone know the name of the song and where I can get it? Annica

It was reported today, December 21, 2006, that Guy Higginbotham, former saxophonist for Little Richard, died as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.I had the great pleasure to play in a local garage band (Papa Swag) with Guy for the last 18 months of his life.Details are sketchy at this time regarding the accident. This is posted in the hope that the information will get back to Little Richard. If anyone has the means to contact him, please let him know of Guy's passing.Thank you,DeWayne WheatonDecatur, Alabama

Some years ago, as a birthday treat, my wife bought tickets for a concert of you, Chuck Berry and Fats Domino at the N.E.C. in Birmingham, England. I had been a fan of yours for many years but never had a chance to see you live before. On the day before the concert Fats was taken seriously ill and could not appear. Although we were there principally to see you we were feeling sorry for Fats' fans. Not to worry, not only did you energetically and enthusiastically run through all your own rocking songs but you also, at very short notice, gave us all of Fats' big hits. What a performance and how kind of you. Thanks.

Dear Sir,All my 46 years of life I have always held the deepest admiration for you. Your accomplishments, inventive music that changed the world has never been matched.I have wanted to see you in concert so many times but out here in Oregon I'm a long ways from the beaten path. Perhaps in the sweet by and by.I was saddened when I read something you said recently about most all of your friends have died. I thought to myself, Why is it when God chooses a Man to do great works that he must endure pain and suffurings, Hardships??? Is it the Spirtual Cross you bear?Your life will always and forever, as long as man walks this Earth, be a LegendThank you Sir Little Richard Penniman for all your contributions.-Dale Rhode

About 1976, I heard you speak to a group of high school students, in a church in Keene Tx. You also sang a song about, if I remember correctly, a beautiful city, which gave me goosebumps.  I have never heard it since.  I was working one of the camaras recording your presentation. Before you spoke I was watching you through the camara lens and noticed the restlessness in your eyes. One of your last comments before you sang was something to the effect, keep praying for me, can't remember if you said Richard or Little Richard.  Since that  evening, whenever I think of that time, I do say a pray for you and hope you have peace in your life. God Bless

Dearest Little Richard, I saw you last night (Sept. 23, 06) performing at Cache Creek Casino, in CA. The show and your band were amazing! First, I want to thank you for the book, "Finding Peace Within.." which was handed out at the end of the show. I will read this and cherish it as a gift from YOU! I am 57 years old, born 1949, and your music has added great joy and memories to my life, as well as your magnificent personality, and that is why I HAD to see you perform. I was very close to the stage, and felt especially close to you. Your smile is delightful and makes me smile, AND you are a beautiful person, inside and out. You are a loving and caring man, who has touched many people's lives, not only in your music, but in your presentation of yourself and God! I shall never forget seeing you perform, and I am sure you must have been in pain, since you walked on stage with two canes, but you persevered as a TRUE PERFORMER! You, sir, are amazing and I love you. ALSO, how much I LOVE that Geico commercial. It makes me smile BIG, when I see it every time. How ingenious it was to have YOU in that spot! THANKS so much for all the happy years of great Rock & Roll, R&B, and soulful music. God bless You. Richard E. Elliott, Manteca, CA

I Love Your Geico Commercial. Whoo!
Timothy Cloud 2006-08-21

Little Richard, I will never forget your fantasic performance at the North Carolina State Fair a few years back.  I took my daughter , who was about 13 at the time.  She was totally thrilled with your show, and when u sent the invitation to come on stage and dance, it was only a second and she was on your piano having ablast, not to mention a once in a lifetime moment.  My daughter is the determined type, andshe was nagging me about getting you to sign hercopy of your autobiography you had graciously given to the audience.  I told her that you had signed it and showed the signature to her.  Well that was not good enough for my daughter.  She wanted you to sign the book in real life.  When you once again invited people to come on stage and dance, my daughter was off again to dance on your piano once again.  On her way off stage, she bothered one of your band members and must have asked him if she could get your signature.  The band member said she reminded him of his daughter, and he immediately put her and a friend of my daughter's in the special seating section.  Later, after the show, your band member called me to come down with my daughter. It was then that my daughter , her friend , andI were taken all the way back stage to meet you.No one else was allowed to do so. My daughter, her friend and I were introduced to you, and you were very gracious.  My daughter got to give youa big hug, which thrilled her to death.  She alsowas able to get your autograph in real life, thething she was so determined to get in the first place.  She was so elated and got some of your makeup on her face, which she wiped off and put in a ziplock bag and kept all these years.  Since that time, my daughter has become an accomplished and competition winning dancer and is now attending East Carolina University majoring in dance education and performance.  I am sure that her dancing on your piano remains one of her cherished memories.  One never knows how your life can affect others and I am sure it is so fulfilling fo!
r you to know how you have touched the lives of others in such positive ways.  I know you were having a bit of trouble with your hip, and hope all is well at this time.I LOVE your new commercial on tv as we look forward to any time we are able to see you or see you perform.  Take care of yourself and God Bless you for all your good deeds for others.  Just know that little deeds like meeting my daughter are not taken for granted and will always be cherished.  Thank you for being you.

All these punks in rock and R&B today ought to show some respect to the originator and eternal master, none other than Little Richard. . .
John Deming 2006-07-05

A dozen of us fans of rock and rap from ages 4 to 73 went to join the thousands of other eager fans to see Little Richard in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada on June 24th. It was the first time he played in Central Canada. We couldn't believe that we were finally going to get to see him live. It was a packed outdoor concert area between the Delta 'Castle on the River' Hotel and the beautiful South Saskatchewan River. Everyone could hardly wait for sundown to occur so that we could see the 'architect of rock 'n' roll'. As soon as he came out, the audience lept to their feet and rushed the stage. The media reported that the wildly, excited crowd jumped for the entire hour and a half long performance, during which Richard sang many of his classics along with some 'newer' tracks like "It's Only Rock n Roll", "Old Time Rock n Roll", "Chain of Fools." At one point I yelled for him to play Great Gosh A'mighty." He immediately looked down at me and began to play it on his piano and he sang it with me, not looking away once. I was shouting "Praise the Lord" and he broke out into "I Saw The Light", which he also sang with me. He then smiled and nodded to me after he finished. He couldn't help but testify and witness for the Lord, but the crowd loved that, too. Little Richard kept saying how much fun he was having and kept playing more and more songs. It was like he didn't want to stop. He kept saying that he might be forced to stop due to how late it was getting (it was after 11pm before he finally wound up with "Long Tall Sally.") We didn't want him to stop either. The Saskatchewan Jazz Festival indicated said that it was by far the most exciting and successful show that they ever booked. Never before did a Festival audience remains on its feet (and in the air) for a full show. All of my friends and family were blown away. May the Lord continue to bless you Richard with health and youthfulness and keep on rockin and rollin, rhtym and blues soulin'. And keep using your music to express!
what you believe - that's why you have that gift. (Also please keep encouraging your son Danny in the faith. He is so friendly and considerate. His fellowship was most appreciated.) We will all continue to pray for you and your family. Rob Donison

Always admired Little Richard, but have more appreciation for him now that I've seen the movie based upon his life(BET).  BET should definitely honor him with a lifetime achievement award, if they haven't already.Question: Did Little Richard ever marry Lucille?and I believe I saw him introduce a son on a program about 10 years ago? Richard and Lucille truly loved each other - that love touched my heart.
flemmie kittrell 2006-01-02
