Shadow's by Overcaster (what else? :-)

Ambient + faked radiosity (there is some there, just really faint), by Overcaster aswell

Everything subdivided, bristles stuck on the model with nut.p (really useful for such a simple thing)

Here's a small nut.p tutorial:

1) Install the nut.p and go into modeler (here's the web site - in Japanese) 2) Build your object, for it to really shine, try have lots of curves, this little gem is great for putting buttons onto clothing. While its always tempting to use subdivision, nut.p unfortunately isn't perfect, and doesn't really "see" the subdivided model, so be careful
3) Model the object you want to place on your "cloth", make sure its in the world center (hit F2) and in a separate layer to your actual model 4) Select the points you want to apply your button object to, remembering that if your using a subdivided model, it wont work quite right, but if its cloth you should have plenty of detail without subdivision if your planning on doing MD effects
5) Keep the cloth object in your active layer and select the button object in your background layer, then run nut from the plugins menu, or a menu button if you've created one 6) If all went well it should have placed your button object across the surface of the cloth, ok nothing interesting in that, except the button objects follow the shape of your cloth accurately, which simple point clone plus methods wont get. Now you will be able to animate the cloth with MD and with the correct surface settings the buttons will act accordingly to the cloth when its dynamics are calculated. So ends this simple tutorial, which was done because I had nothing better to do for a couple of minutes :-)

There's plenty of uses for this, buttons on clothes, rivets on metal panels, sas hair guides, even light fixtures or twinkle lights (got a big complicated room with loads of curved surfaces and want to put loads of light or objects around, but don't want to do it by hand, just knife up hte walls and get some points in place, then use nut to place them correctly and matched with the polygon normals on the walls.
