Okay folks.
This is what we start with. I loaded to the scene a ground object,
which is just a single disc polygon with default surface, a blobby
thingy and a model of my left computer speaker i made for practice. If
you study this first render, you can see that the default lighting
looks really flat, and the result we see here is rather uninteresting.
Let's do something about that.
This scene is "Justtut01.lws"The speaker is already surfaced, but we will later add some textures to the ground and blob objects. But before getting into that, let's do something to the environment. |
Make my dayWe will start by adding SkyGen backdrop to the scene. If you haven't already added buttons for all the PlugPak scripts, NOW would be a good time to do so.I strongly suggest that you also add buttons for the Overcaster subscripts. For instructions on how to do that, see the Installation docs.

For now,
we will use the default settings - a detailed look to them can be found
from the SkyGen
docs.
After
clicking OK, two popups will appear, asking for you to determine the
default orientation for Sun and Moon. As we are doing a day scene, set
the sun orientation to midday, the moon orientation doesn't really
matter. On the left, you can see the version that ships with PlugPak 2.0 and above - as you can see, all the controls are now in the same panel. The next thing you will see is an Add/Open Texture Environment popup. This option automaticly adds LW texture environment, but will cause crashes on some systems. To be on the safe side, deselect the checkbox for now. Open texture Environment manually: Scene > Backdrop > Add Environment > LW_TextureEnvironment. Double click the texture environment to refresh it. There should now be Offset, Scale, Axis and Texture parameters available. You should now have three windows open in the Lightwave layout: Presets, Viper and Texture Environment. You can always click on one of the Texture Environment axis buttons to refresh the texture environment, Viper and Presets. |
There
should now be a multitude of SkyGen presets available on the presets
menu - it will default
on WorkSpace, which is empty unless you have added some presets of your
own. (Click here for more info about the presets)
|
| Select the
SkyGen_REF object, and press [p] for object properties. In the
deformations tab, open the morph mixer plugin (Doubleclick the "Mixing
11 morphs in 4 groups" text). An endomorph mixer will open. Below,
you can see the sliders version, which is what you get with PlugPak 2,0
and above.
|
With the
default settings, the clouds are a little too blurry, and there's not
enough of them. Adjust (in the clouds tab) the Amount slider to 50% and
the detail detail slider to 70%.
Now, render
[F9] a test frame from your scene. You should get something like the
this.
