Orage, and time management is easy...

About Orage

Orage is a new modern calendar application for the Xfce Desktop Environment. Orage has been designed from the start to be quick and easy-to-use. Its user interface is clean and intuitive, and does not include any confusing or useless options. Orage is fast and responsive and uses minimal system resources. Orage has been translated into several (currently about 30) languages.

With Orage you can store events and get both audible and visible alarms when the time comes near. Orage can handle repeating events and full day type events (like birthdays). All times are timezone aware.

Orage also contains Xfce panel plugin, which is capable of showing date and time in various format and is also timezone aware. Clicking this orage-clock panel plugin raises and hides Orage main calendar window.

Status

Orage was originally born with the name xfcalendar, but has been improved a lot and was given a new name. First Orage version 4.4.0 was released on 2007/01/21 as part of Xfce 4.4.0. Next stable version was 4.6.1 and was released on 2009/04/19 as part of Xfce 4.6.1. Newest version is 4.7.5. It is the pre-version of Orage 4.8, which will be released with Xfce 4.8 when that is ready. Orage 4.8 (and 4.7) is also compatible with Xfce 4.6. The documentation contains detailed description of how Orage can be used.

Development

Orage development is proceeding fast with many people making contributions in different areas. Most of the source code is being written by the project maintainer Juha Kautto. Latest version is always available from git and current stable release (4.7.5) is available in Download. Orage 4.6 is fully compatible with Xfce 4.4 and can be used instead of the included Orage 4.4. But there is no upgrade path from Orage 4.4 to 4.6 so files needs to be moved manually. Orage 4.7 can only be used with Xfce 4.6; it is not compatible with Xfce 4.4! Orage 4.8 will be compatible with Xfce 4.8 (and Orage 4.8 will also be compatible with Xfce 4.6).

You can help developing Orage in several ways. We thank people who are willing to test and debug the software and provide bug reports or even patches or translate Orage.
