ABOUT US

You are very welcome to visit my pages.

The endless patience of my husband, Jarkko, has made the existence of these pages possible: who do you think took care of the dogs, while I was struggling with these pages... I am very lucky to have found a person, who shares my love to our dogs.

The most important addition to our family are our children;
Joel, who was born on the 17th of January, 2002 and Julianna, who was born on the 6th of February, 2006. They are loved by all our bichons and Halla, our guardian angel in furs!

The scenery in the background of our logo is from the river we live by. Our home is situated in the south-west Finland, 1 hour from Turku and 1 h 30 minutes from Helsinki - even though we live in the most populated part of Finland, we have home deep in the countryside, which we enjoy immensely.

I shall tell you something about me and my doggie background: My family has had dogs as long as I can remember. I got my first own dog, when I was 7 years old, he was a Bernese Mountain Dog, later I got another Bernese and two Newfoundlands. The first Bichon Frisé was my father's idea, at that time I had a German Shepherd, so I wasn't very interested in those " little poodles". Since there were very few Bichons In Finland at that time and the quality wasn't very good, we decided to get our first Bichon from Sulyka kennels, England. As every Bichon person knows by their experience, the Bichon came and conquered the hearts of my family so, that I made up my mind and began breeding them.

Couple of years later I was thinking about buying a bigger, sound and
"easy to take care of" breed and by coincidence met the Pharaoh Hounds, while I was visiting Mrs Pauline Block of Twinley kennels in England. By that time I was so much involved with breeding dogs, that naturally I also wanted to breed from my Pharaoh bitch, too. Almost by accident I also bought two Papillons from Mrs Norma Staff, Ringlands kennels (I simply could not resist, they were so gorgeous).

I received the "Vuolasvirta-prize" from the Kennel Club of Finland as a
first Bichon Frisé breeder for breeding consistent high quality Bichons,
so far I have bred or made up over 100 champions in Bichons.

I have had 7 champions in Papillons,  Pharaoh Hound champions number 15. The Shih Tzus, which I acquired when I gave up the Papillons; I made up 5 of them, sadly I ended my career with this lovely breed, when my promising 8 months old puppy was stolen from our garden.

Today we have a Pyrenean Mountain dog (Great Pyrenees) bitch "Halla" as our pet and guard dog along with the Bichons (but we only show and breed Bichons Frisés). One has to decide what are the most important things in life and to me it is my children, my husband and my bichons in this order. :)

I have served as the Chairman of the Bichon Frisé Club of Finland
and I acted as a chairman also for seven years in The Pharaoh Hound Club of Finland. I have had the honour of being invited to judge twice in The Specialty Show of the Bichon Frisé Club of Great Britain and I have had the same honour from the Norwegian and Swedish Clubs , too.

My stock has been exported to and made up in Sweden, Norway, Denmark,
Spain, Italy, Portugal, South Africa, USA, Canada and Australia.

I hope that you enjoy my pages, if you have any questions or just want to chat, I shall be happy to answer you. Please E-mail me.
